What is Sound Healing?
Sound healing is the practice of using vibrational frequencies to support the body’s natural ability to heal, regulate, and restore balance. Sound moves through the body not just as something we hear, but as something we feel—affecting the nervous system, brainwave activity, and even the way energy moves through the body.
Through carefully tuned frequencies, sound healing helps shift stuck energy, release tension, and bring the body into a state of deep rest and restoration.
How Sound Affects the Body and Mind
-
The body naturally synchronizes with external rhythms—this is called entrainment. When exposed to specific sound frequencies, the brain shifts from active, thinking states (Beta waves) into slower, more meditative states (Alpha, Theta, and Delta waves).
- Beta (13-30 Hz): Active thinking, stress, and focus
- Alpha (8-12 Hz): Relaxed awareness, creativity, and light meditation
- Theta (4-7 Hz): Deep meditation, intuition, dreamlike states
- Delta (0.5-3 Hz): Deep sleep, regeneration, and profound relaxationBy using instruments like crystal singing bowls, gongs, and tuning forks, sound healing can induce altered states of consciousness, quiet mental chatter, and deepen self-awareness.
-
Sound directly affects the autonomic nervous system, helping to shift the body from fight-or-flight (sympathetic) into rest-and-digest (parasympathetic).
- Slow, rhythmic vibrations lower cortisol levels and reduce stress.
- Deep, resonant tones activate the vagus nerve, promoting relaxation and emotional release.
- Subtle overtones and harmonics encourage nervous system regulation, helping the body settle into safety. This is why sound healing can be so effective for those experiencing stress, trauma, or emotional imbalance.
-
The body is made up of about 70% water, which makes it an excellent conductor for sound. Vibrational healing works by sending frequency into the body where it can release tension, stimulate circulation, and restore energetic flow.
Different frequencies affect different parts of the body:
- Low-frequency tones (such as gongs) are grounding and deeply resonant.
- Mid-range frequencies (such as singing bowls) help balance emotions and energy.
- High-frequency sounds (such as chimes or tuning forks) can create clarity and mental expansion.
The Role of Intuition & Body Wisdom in Sound Healing
Sound doesn’t force—it invites. It meets you where you are, allowing your body to take in what it needs. Unlike other modalities that require effort or cognitive processing, sound healing works on a deeper, more intuitive level.
You may experience:
- Physical sensations (tingling, warmth, or deep relaxation)
- Emotional release (a sense of lightness, clarity, or tears)
- Visionary experiences (colors, imagery, or deep insights)
- Deep stillness (a feeling of weightlessness, floating, or timelessness)
Whatever arises is part of the healing process. Your body knows how to respond. Sound simply creates the space for it.

8 pm Moon Sound Bath
Each night before bed, Ashley will lead us in a Moon Sound Bath (indoors or outdoors, weather depending). Sound healing instruments such as crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, chimes, and gong generate frequencies that interact with the body’s own resonance, supporting balance and clarity. These vibrations slow brainwave activity, quiet mental chatter, and help restore the body’s natural resonant state.
